Port technology Society e.V.
The Hafentechnische Gesellschaft e.V. (HTG) has been bringing together technical expertise from the fields of port construction, hydraulic engineering and coastal engineering for more than 100 years. A strong network of 1,200 members - from port authorities and logistics companies to scientists - that drives innovation, develops sustainable solutions and promotes the transfer of knowledge between generations.
The challenge.
Despite its high level of expertise and important role in the industry, HTG suffered from a rather invisible and dusty image - too complex, not tangible enough and barely visible to the next generation. HTG needed a new voice - fresher, more inspiring, more approachable. Above all, however, it needed to translate its complex technical topics into a language that was inspiring and accessible - for experts as well as young talent and the specialist public.
The solution.
Following a strategic workshop, we developed an annual plan for the new HTG communication with the aim of positioning HTG as a dynamic, innovative platform for experts and young talent.
A well thought-out social media plan with modern layouts was the first step towards actively involving the community and expanding the network. Instead of dry technical information, the focus was placed on people and their stories.
One particular highlight was the production of an image film that not only explains HTG, but brings it to life. Emotional images, personal statements - a film that shows how HTG operates as a community and the opportunities that membership opens up.
We also conducted interviews in which experts provided insights into HTG's core topics in advance. In addition to discussing future topics, we address current challenges and share inspiring visions. Disseminated as articles and social media posts, a viral multiplier effect was created that increased the reach by leaps and bounds.
